3 Minute Breathing Technique for Hypertension

Hypertension is the second-leading underlying cause of death, but lifestyle changes can be amazingly effective at lowering high blood pressure.

Here is a breathing technique that I practice:

  1. Relax and Sit comfortably.
  2. Start belly breathing by inhaling through the nose to the count of 4.
  3. Hold your breath for 6 seconds.
  4. Exhale very slowly through the mouth for 8 seconds using pursed lips.

REPEAT THE ABOVE STEPS 10 TIMES 

Breathing exercises can lower blood pressure quickly, and continuing breathing exercises for weeks or months can help keep blood pressure lower during that period. It may be good to practice breathing exercises on a regular basis.
